Columbia, South Carolina – Samantha Schnitta 591 clip, bringing a career-high 15 kills to the bench as Ole Miss got the job done on the road Saturday afternoon in a 3-1 win over South Carolina inside the Carolina Volleyball Center.
The Rebels (11-11, 7-5 SEC) had an aggressive day, scoring .306 as a team. Setter Arie Boleris cut his way through the offense with a career-high 54 assists, and had his 50-plus assists in three straight games.she spread the ball well Sasha Ratliff, Anna Bear and Schnitta. Ratliff had 16 kills and Schnitta had 15 in just 22 swings. Baer closed out the trio with 15 with an efficient .382 batting average.
After dropping a few points early on, Ole Miss settled into a tight first set. Ratliff gave the Rebels his 1-point advantage and headed the media into his timeout, only for him to cause a 3-0 run and put Ole Miss up to his four. His 5-1 run in the second half by the Gamecocks tied the score at 21. Peyton Burgoch A kill silenced Jim and the Rebels scored the final three points to take the first set 25-22.
South Carolina had an early edge as the Gamecocks appeared to bounce back in second. They used a 7-1 run to force the Rebels to call the first timeout and doubled his misses for his 10-5 lead early in the 10-5 lead. I made it After the breakout, Bear and company used a reset to have him cause a 4-0 run and come back within two. Once again, Gamecocks regained his 5-point lead. That’s when Ole Miss turned to Schnitta. Schnitta sparked off the bench as he scored four massive kills on four swings. Ratliff took over and seemed unstoppable on the slide to cap off the set win in a come-from-behind fashion.
Schnitta continued her hot blows to start the third set as Ole Miss took an early lead. But South Carolina didn’t walk away quietly and fought back to take a 15-14 lead at the media break. Tied at 23, Schnitta had a big kill to force a set point, but South Carolina took advantage of her two offensive errors to force the fourth set.
Just needing to win one more set, Ole Miss and South Carolina traded points, resulting in a 3–0 run on both sides of the media timeout, with the Rebels leading 18–14. Ole Miss kept up the momentum, with kills from Vivian Miller and Schnitta coming close to set point, before a Gamecock service error sealed the win.
