When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see? Missouri hasn’t had most of the season. i went on saturday. But instead of a mirror, the Tigers only looked across the line of scrimmage to see themselves.
The Tigers traveled all over the country but still found themselves in Colombia. Then they lined up for 60 minutes opposite the team that made the best impression in Missouri (before Saturday). Or at least a version of itself that was for most of the season.
All season, Missouri was close. A stifling defense keeps the Tigers in the game. But inappropriate attacks weren’t profitable enough. Tigers are hanging out. they make it funny. But penalties, mistakes, turnovers, inaccurate passes, or sifting the offensive line derail the effort. It’s not always the same, but there is always something.
Finally on Saturday, the shoes are on the feet of the opponent.
Missouri nearly doubled Gamecocks from 367 to 203 yards. By the end of the day, the penalties had nearly evened out and the Tigers had actually pulled one flag he had already. However, committing just six was an improvement for the Tigers, with most players looking like he had one defensive drive at the end of the first half. The Tigers were derailed by an offense that set back too often on first downs and barely gained enough yards on third downs. After the defense forced a punt in the sixth of South Carolina’s ninth drive, the Missouri offense got the ball back with 10:23. It hit the ground six minutes and eight seconds behind the clock, leaving South Carolina with more than despair.
The most obvious, of course, is that Missouri quarterbacks outperformed South Carolina quarterbacks. This game was simple. Missouri, including Cook, avoided the mistakes they made to launch torpedoes all season. South Carolina did not. Oh how the turntable turned. South Carolina is Missouri, and Missouri was finally on the right side of things Saturday night. Honestly, Missouri and South Carolina had pretty similar seasons up until this point. However, the Gamecocks took advantage of the opposition’s mistakes, so at 5-2, he was ranked 25th in the country, while Mizow he was 3-4.
