COLUMBIA, South Carolina (WIS) – On Thursday, the South Carolina Election Commission approved the results of the 2022 state general election.
The Electoral Commission said more than 1.7 million voters had cast their ballots and that the election had run smoothly. His 51{ea2cba5bdf6fe62bbe85e24807814144a71e77d3ae7311fbc27a008558d1372c} of voters are active registered voters.
State Election Commission Executive Director Howard Knapp said, “I am thrilled that the early voting process has been implemented for the first time in a general election. I would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication to this process, and I am pleased to see that the public’s attention is focused not on the electoral process, but on the outcome, voters’ decisions about candidates and issues.”
According to the news release, 33{ea2cba5bdf6fe62bbe85e24807814144a71e77d3ae7311fbc27a008558d1372c} of South Carolinians voted early in this election, and 64{ea2cba5bdf6fe62bbe85e24807814144a71e77d3ae7311fbc27a008558d1372c} chose to wait until Election Day.
Officials emphasized the success of the election process to ballot administrators, election administrators and voters.
The commission is gearing up for the next election cycle and is encouraging South Carolinians to register to vote and renew their current registrations.
