Edgefield County, South Carolina (WRDW/WAGT) – The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office arrested 49-year-old Ronald J. Miller after a daylong pursuit.
Jody Rowland, of the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, said sheriffs received a call shortly after 8 a.m. on Christmas morning near Martintown Road and U.S. Route 25 in North Augusta.
After a traffic stop demanded a driver’s license, officers said the driver pulled a 9mm handgun on the officer and drove away.
They say a five to six-mile chase ensued, with the driver eventually abandoning the vehicle on Sweetwater Road and Sylvan Street.
A follow-up was then conducted on foot, and the driver was identified as 49-year-old Ronald J. Miller on Shortcut Road and Coronet Drive.
According to Sheriff Rowland, Miller previously had a warrant in the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office charged with burglary, grand theft, and intent to damage property.
