McADENVILLE, NC (AP) — When 9-year-old Rylinn Gregory wrote his Christmas wishes to Santa, the letters were supposed to reach the North Pole via the Community Fire Department’s red mailbox.

But his grandmother, Sabrina Gregory Hendricks, made a mistake: Instead of being delivered to Santa’s mailbox at the Fire Department, Rylinn’s letter was swept into her regular mail pile.

“Two days later, I accidentally grabbed a pile of mail, threw it in the mailbox, hoisted the flag, and spent the whole day looking for the letter,” she said. I went to the mailbox to check and there was a letter there, it said Rylinn Gregory and the Santa Claus that came back was 101 Santa Claus Lane in the North Pole.”

It turns out that Santa wrote a reply.

“Thank you for your letter. A friend at the post office made sure it got to me here in the North Pole,” the letter read. “We are busy preparing for our Christmas Eve trip. Rudolph and the other reindeer are in top shape and ready for our big night.

Santa went on to say that Rylinn was on his “nice” list.

“Thank you for sending me your Christmas list. Your grandma sounds like an amazing woman. You are so lucky,” wrote Santa. “You seem like a big sports fan. I will work with the elves to make sure you get what you want. ”

Santa also asked for something. “Merry Christmas!”

“I opened it. I read it and sat there just waking up and crying,” Hendricks said.

Rylinn, a third-year student at McAdenville Elementary School, was also surprised.

“I was surprised, excited and happy,” he said.

“He was staring at me with this look on his face. ‘Momo, did you have anything to do with this?'” Hendricks asked. We talked about letters.”

“This is just to confirm with other kids. Please don’t stop believing. Santa is real,” she said.

She added that she was grateful to Gastonia’s post office employees for ensuring that Rylinn received a reply. She said she spoke to the man, but he wishes to remain anonymous.

“I couldn’t stop crying,” she said.

Rylinn said he plans to write to Santa again next year.
