MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WNCT) — Nearly 20,000 were without power in parts of Carteret County Saturday night due to a Duke Energy power line problem.
In a post on the Carteret-Craven Electric Co-op Facebook page, officials said the affected power lines are along Borg Banks.
Carteret-Craven Electric Co-op, which serves 52,938 people, lost power to 9,495 customers around 9:44 p.m., according to PowerOutage.us.
At 9:20 p.m., CCEC officials said power was restored in the city of Morehead. As of 9:50 p.m., his CCEC website said 4,100 people were without power in the Emerald Isle area and 3,700 people in the Salter Pass area.
A Facebook post read: “We are working to determine the cause of the outage affecting some members of Morehead City, Pine Knoll Shores, Salter Pass and Emerald Isles.”

Officials said full power should be restored by midnight.
