Two-time North Carolina Senior Coach of the Year Jeremy Gregory No longer listed on the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s banned individuals database.
Gregory is Suspended by USA Swimming in July 2021. A SafeSport investigation into the alleged misconduct is pending, but it appears that sanctions have now been lifted. He recently worked for the Mecklenburg Swim Association (MSA) and was accused of violating a code of conduct “related to inappropriate emails and communications.”
MSA head coach Peter Perers sent an email to the team explaining Gregory’s dismissal.
Charlotte Observer spoke to two people familiar with the situation and said Gregory had also been fired from his previous job coaching the Mecklenburg aquatic team (ATOM) for verbally abusing several swimmers. ATOM head coach and CEO Shaynah Jerrell said there was not enough information at the time to report Gregory to USA Swimming.
Gregory coached five Olympic Trial Qualifiers with ATOM and was named North Carolina Swimming Senior Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2019. A graduate of Queen’s University in Charlotte, he joined MSA in February 2020, shortly after leaving ATOM.
Based on previous reports on SafeSport’s investigative process, an interim ban may be issued at any time during the investigation of the allegation. Interim measures usually require a separate hearing.
Former James Madison diving coach John Walsh He was also removed from SafeSport’s disciplinary database after being listed for alleged misconduct last September.
