Chapel Hill, North Carolina – App State Tennis (0-1) opened their spring dual-match season on Saturday with a 6-1 loss to No. 2 North Carolina (2-0), extending their home win streak to 56.

After conceding a doubles goal, the Mountaineers showed their strength in six singles games, including seniors. Virginia Poggy 7-6, 6-3 victory over Lindsay Zink of UNC in 5th place.

Four nationally-ranked Tar Heels beat the Mountaineers on singles Courts 1-4, and on Court 6, Alwyn Ryan-Bovey Lost a hard 6-3, 6-4 match against UNC’s Sara McClure.

App State will host their home opener against Lees-McRae on Sunday at 3pm at Boone’s Deer Valley Racquet Club.
