Charlotte, North Carolina – Christopher Dunn Legg was unable to produce enough points to help North Carolina State win Maryland in the 2022 Dukes Mayo Bowl.
The Terrapins scored only one touchdown, but it was enough for a 16-12 win.

First Half (10-9 Maryland)

North Carolina had four drives that ended in Maryland territory, but the pack failed to produce a touchdown. We pulled State University to within 1 at half.
Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa connected with wide receiver Octavian Smith for a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter for the only touchdown of the first half.
The North Carolina State defense forced one turnover. Cyrus Fagan intercepted and stopped Terrapin on 4th down twice in the first half. The Wolfpack offense managed 203 total yards of offense in the first half.
quarterback Ben Finley He passed for 185 yards and hit eight different receivers in the first half. He threw one interception on North Carolina State’s opening drive. The Wolfpack got the ball back when Fagan picked up Tagovailoa in the back corner of the end zone.
North Carolina State’s best drive started at 25 yards, but the team quickly moved the ball thanks to three consecutive completions by Finley, covering 61 yards to Maryland’s 2-yard line.
The drive ended with another field goal after three consecutive incomplete passes.
Second Half (16-12 Final)
Maryland and North Carolina traded field goals in the second half, with the Terrapins getting two from Chad Lailand and the Puck getting one from Dunn.
Ryland made field goals from 33 and 45 yards out to seal the win for Maryland. Dunn scored one in the fourth quarter with a 26-yard kick that put him in the game (13-12).
On the next drive, Ryland made four Terps with 5:36 remaining.
North Carolina went three-and-out on the ensuing drive, punting the ball to Maryland with 4:30 left in the game. The Wolfpack forced a punt and he on the clock got the ball with 2:34 and drove a chance to win. However, on first down, Jacobian Bennett picked off Finley at the 49-yard line.
