The coroner said the accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday on the Elberton Highway near Sam Turner Road.
According to Korner, the driver knocked down several utility poles, causing transformer fires and power line cuts.
The driver was taken by ambulance to AnMed, but died in hospital, coroners say.
No victims have been identified at this time.
