Crisco Joins North Carolina Sheriff’s Board of Training Standards

Stanley County Sheriff Jeff Crisco was one of four sheriffs who recently accepted a new role as commissioner of the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training Standards Board.

Crisco was elected sheriff in 2018 and was re-elected in November. This is my first time serving as a member of the committee.
Prior to being elected sheriff, Crisco worked as a detective for the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office.
Crisco represents District 8. The district includes Anson, Cavallas, Hawke, Mecklenburgh, Montgomery, Moore, Richmond, Scotland, Stanley and Union counties.
Crisco will fill a seat on the committee left vacant by the unexpected death of Anson County Sheriff Randrick Reed, who died in September.

Other newly appointed sheriffs include Catawba County Sheriff Don Brown, Henderson County Sheriff Lowell Griffin, and Cabarrus County Sheriff Van Shaw.
The Commission was created in 1983 and consists of 17 members appointed on staggered terms. Members are responsible for making decisions related to the administrative rules governing all judicial certification programs in the Sheriff’s Office. Judicial officers include deputy sheriffs, detainees, and telecommunications officers.
The Commission is also responsible for determining whether new or current judicial officers should be allowed to receive or retain law enforcement officer certifications.
