GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA (FOX CAROLINA) – The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released an annual data book on the National Do Not Call Registry and how South Carolina is piling up complaints about nuisance calls nationwide. information has been announced.
Over 246 million people have joined the Do Not Call Registry since it was created in 2003. South Carolina people make up her more than three million of these active registrants, but the state as a whole ranks 45th in the nation for percentage of Do Not Call registrants. Do not call list.
Between October 2021 and September 2022, the FTC received 44,285 complaints about nuisance calls from people in South Carolina. South Carolina ranked 25th in the nation for the number of population-based complaints.
Spoofing scam calls topped the list of complaints statewide, with more than half of the types of calls reported being robocalls.
