Charlotte, North Carolina (WJZY) – A real-life Grinch scammed a Charlotte nonprofit on Christmas Day.

Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte supports free and essential home repairs and other projects around the city. Still, their efforts are thwarted until they find a trailer filled with stolen tools from directly beneath them.

Beth Morrison, executive director of Rebuilding Together, said: A great opportunity to steal money from a charity. ”

Morrison told Queen City News that the trailer was full of materials, tools, and even a toilet that was supposed to be installed in one of the home projects.

She and other team members did everything right to protect the equipment.

“It was all backed up in our dock area, so ‘There’s definitely not enough space for anyone in the back of the trailer,'” she said. All security cameras. None of that deterred them. ”

The cameras didn’t stop the crooks, but they caught them all. Morrison wanted someone to know she was behind the wheel of a gray Toyota Tacoma.

“They came in, took about 20 minutes to unhook our trailer from the truck, hooked it up to their truck, and they were on their way,” Morrison said.

The tool and trailer will cost about $7,500, but will slow you down significantly until you find it.

“For now, we can only work on one project at a time,” explains Morrison.

Now she’s belatedly making a Christmas wish to the person who stole her belongings.

“Hopefully they’ve screwed up somewhere and maybe they’re doing this too often?” she said.

Morrison added that the truck’s license plate had been removed and could not be read.

Rebuilding Together has filed a police report and is working with CMPD to find the trailer and tools.

If the truck looks familiar, or if you know anything about it, please contact Crime Stoppers.
