WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCBD) – They’re in the sky, perched in trees, and on roofs.
The Grand Bee area of West Ashley is home to all kinds of birds. Neighbors say they are messy.
“There’s a lot of poop, a lot of debris left in the yard. See, it doesn’t matter how many times you clean it. It’s like, ‘Where did this napkin come from? Where did this come from? ‘”
The Renner Housing Estate is located next to a large landfill in Charleston County, just off Bees Ferry Road.
Katie Foxx, who moved into the neighborhood a year ago, said that when birds fly by, they drop a lot of trash.
Wrappers, feminine products, chicken bones, and even needles are just a few of the items neighbors have seen in their gardens.
“We have a lot of trash in our backyard and we don’t want to get sick from it, so we often pick up one of the trash claws,” said Fox. Dogs are choking on bones They had to go to the vet to remove them from their stomachs So that’s pretty bad We’re all running out of ideas increase.”
The fox wakes up every morning to the sound of crows. The noise doesn’t stop until the evening.
Jamie Wyler said birds weren’t an issue when the house was built. Little did he know months later he would have some unexpected neighbors.
“There’s no construction noise, so no hammers or anything. They’re not scared, so they hang out, hang out, hang out. So it’s gotten worse over time,” Weiler explained. .
According to Charleston County officials, the landfill has been around since the 1970s.
News 2 reached out to Lennar’s Charleston office but received no response. I also called county leaders in hopes of getting some answers.
