RALEY, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is recovering from recent outpatient knee surgery. The surgery generally came during a downturn in CEO public events.

Cooper underwent partial knee replacement surgery while on vacation, governor spokesperson Jordan Monaghan said. The second-term governor said he was “feeling good.”

So far in 2023, Cooper, 65, has kept his governorship under wraps from the public eye. He met privately with Duke his Energy executives last week about the Christmas Eve blackout.

Monahan said Cooper hosted lawmakers at the Executive Mansion on the first day of the meeting on Wednesday. And he will make his first public appearance of the year on Friday when he attends the annual Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Day event for state officials in Raleigh.
