Why not skip the eggnog this Christmas and try a holiday-themed beer instead?

South Carolina is home to many local breweries, each with their own take on a wide variety of beers. And with the Christmas season in full swing, naturally, many sought to brew special flavors that captured the holiday spirit.

Google Reviews presents 11 unique Christmas holiday season beers from some of South Carolina’s highest rated breweries, based on overall ratings and number of reviews. His two of the most acclaimed breweries from Charleston, Greenville, North Charleston and the Columbia area cities.

Columbia area

River Rat Brewery

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (468 reviews)

River Rat Brewery has been brewing beer in the South Carolina capital since 2013. The brewery recently introduced a seasonal River Rat My Morning Stout. His December drinks for a limited time include cacao nibs, oats, Madagascar vanilla, and brewery-exclusive Jittery Joe’s Coffee.

“This beer pairs wonderfully with herb-roasted chicken, pork, and lamb,” says River Rat’s website.

Steel Hands Brewing

Steel Hands Brewing Opening December 1, 2018, it features a 10,000-square-foot facility to hold the brewing area, a 2,500-square-foot taproom, an outdoor gathering space, and a restaurant.

Steel Hands is celebrating the Christmas season this year with their new Coffee Lager Holiday Beer. Seasonal releases are all made with locally grown Loveland coffee and include flavors such as German Chocolate Cake, Salted Caramel and Crème Brulee. The beer is sold in stores throughout Colombia on draft and in 6-packs.

Fireforge has created a sweet winter treat that is sure to get Santa’s attention. Called Infinite Danks, this winter beer is a 10.8{ea2cba5bdf6fe62bbe85e24807814144a71e77d3ae7311fbc27a008558d1372c} Imperial Milk Stout with Oreos added. Brewed with Carolina malted oats, lactose and rich Oreo cookies.

Liability Brewing was started by two neighbors and uses only U.S.-grown ingredients to brew their beer. The brewery is also committed to sustainability, using barley and wheat grown using only rainwater, without the need for artificial sources. It also captures his CO2 that is naturally produced during fermentation, thus reducing the brewery’s carbon footprint, the company’s website says.

Palmetto Brewery Company

Palmetto Brewery Company decided to create this year’s seasonal beer in honor of the holiday dessert staple. It is based on a solid American porter with a rich, chocolatey flavor called Sweet Potato Pie Porter. A malt his forward with flavors of yam casserole, marshmallow, brown sugar and candied pecan. Accompaniments include sweet potato, pecans, vanilla, cinnamon and lactose.

Holy City Brewing started in 2011 in a 4,000 square foot warehouse. The brewery later outgrew its location and moved to an old public works building on Park Circle in 2017. The location continued to grow until it housed his four-vessel system of 30 barrels and a taproom where he could hold more than 300 people, according to the brewery’s website. To create the beer, Freehouse used Hoodoo Imperial Stout and aged half in Highwire Distilling Rye Whiskey casks and the other half in Jimmy Red Corn Bourbon casks for 14 months. He then blended the two, harmonizing peppery rye and caramel from whiskey barrels and vanilla and baking spices from bourbon barrels.
