“In South Carolina, nationally, holiday drug overdoses are on the rise,” said Melanie Morgan, DHEC’s Greenville Site Supervisor.

Morgan told 7News that the giveaways are intentionally aligned with the holiday season to prevent deaths.

The kit includes two doses of naloxone (commonly known as Narcan), fentanyl test strips, instructions, and mental health resources.

“If naloxone can save the life of someone you know, who cares about the stigma, be it a friend or family member?” As one Nicole Baxley said: “We’re talking about saving their lives, so go to the office and get it and keep it handy.”
