Incumbent Democratic candidate Marvin Lucas was reelected to the 42nd seat of the NC House of Representatives, according to Tuesday night’s unofficial election results.
All constituencies reported that Lucas received 71.13{ea2cba5bdf6fe62bbe85e24807814144a71e77d3ae7311fbc27a008558d1372c} of the vote on 10,394 votes and Carrasco received 28.87{ea2cba5bdf6fe62bbe85e24807814144a71e77d3ae7311fbc27a008558d1372c} of the vote on 4,218 votes, according to the State Election Commission. website.
District 42 includes Spring Lake, Fort Bragg, and portions of Fayetteville.

A retired schoolteacher and principal, Lucas has served as District 42’s representative since 2001. In his voter guide, he said he would not vote to impose abortion restrictions and would support expanding Medicaid and legalizing medical marijuana.
