TAYLORVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – A man currently on assignment in North Carolina broke into his home Monday night and had his gun and ammunition stolen, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to CBS 17 on Wednesday.
The robbery occurred on Block 100 of Teva Hollow Lane, and investigators confirmed that one gun and a “significant amount of ammunition” were stolen, and the thieves also unsuccessfully tried to steal a truck and a motorcycle.
“The house was vacant when there was a burglary,” said Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman, who told CBS 17 that the home’s owner is currently serving in the U.S. military and is expected to return home this month. I received the information.
Sheriff Bowman confirmed the man’s deployment, but said the sheriff’s office had not released the soldier’s name at this time.
Sheriff Bowman also said detectives will collect evidence from the scene and release a police report on Thursday.
The sheriff’s office is actively looking for robberies.
