Fonda Bryant wants state legislators to draft legislation that will help save lives.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mental health advocates are pushing to expand suicide prevention signs found in many Charlotte parking lots across the state.
Fonda Bryant partnered with Parking in 2019, saying, “You’re not alone. Need help? Call the National Suicide Hotline: 800-273-8255. ” posted a green sign.
The goal is to reach out to people in locations who may be at risk of suicide. She started the effort after learning of several suicides in just a few years in a parking lot across from Uptown’s Spectrum Center.
Bryant now has signs on 10 parking decks around the city, but that’s not all. She is advocating for state legislators to pass a bill requiring signage in all parking lots in North Carolina.
