A woman has been arrested after shooting a man and barricading her inside her home, according to the Asheville Police Department. Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 11:55 p.m. It is said that Officers were able to get in touch with Tara Sita Miel Dewey, 49, who was inside the house, and said she was the one who shot the man they found near the back door. Before, he was treated with medical assistance by applying a tourniquet to his leg. Police said the man was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment.He surrendered safely without incident. Dewey was charged with assault with a lethal weapon intended to cause serious injury and fire a firearm at occupied property, police said.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 11:55 p.m. Thursday on Deaverview Road in Asheville.
Police said when authorities arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound at the back door of the house.
Officers were able to contact Tara Sita Miel Dewey, A 49-year-old woman inside the house said she shot a man she found near the back door, police said.
Police said officers were able to remove the man safely and receive medical assistance by applying a tourniquet to his leg before EMS arrived on the scene.
Police said the man was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment.
According to police, after hours, officers were able to force Dewey out of the residence and he was able to surrender safely without incident.
Dewey has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting grievous bodily injury and firing a firearm at occupied property with intent to kill, police said.
Police said Dewey was placed in Buncombe County detention on a $100,000 bond or $10,000 on guarantor.
