GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A suspect in a fatal stabbing earlier this month was arrested early Saturday morning, Greenville police said.
In a news release, investigators said George Wesley Tyson III was arrested by Kinston police shortly after midnight. He was placed in the Pitt County Detention Center without custody.
Tyson, 35, of Greenville, was wanted for the murder of Broderick Harris, 34, from January 6, officials said.
At approximately 11:30 am on January 6, Greenville police responded to the ECU Health Medical Center after learning someone was taken to the emergency room with a stab wound.
Harris was identified as the victim. He later died in hospital.
Police said little information was known about the incident at the time, or it was unclear if it occurred within Greenville city limits.
Since then, investigators believe the dispute took place on the 1300 block of Ward Street in Greenville. From there, authorities classified Tyson as a suspect.
Greenville Police said Tyson “was thought to be armed and dangerous.”
The Kinston Police Department, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, and the SBI Fugitives and Missing Persons Task Force assisted in the arrest, Greenville Police said.
Tyson is being held without bail at the Pitt County Detention Center.
