Angers, North Carolina (WNCN) – A tractor-trailer crashed into a Harnett County home on Thursday morning, troopers said.

The crash occurred at NC 210 around 4am on Thursday. Members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol and Angier and Black’s River Fire Department responded to the scene.

The house is now condemned, officials said.

The homeowner said it was heartbreaking to see this happen to the house his family had lived in for nearly a century.

Troopers say the trailer driver fell asleep at the wheel and the cicada may have hit the house about a quarter mile off the road.

The family said their adult daughter had been injured and had to be dug up from the rubble.

Angie and Black River Fire Chief Austin Tew say firefighters arrived on the scene and helped rescue her.

“That’s what our training was about, and we knew the number one priority was finding and eliminating victims,” Tew said.

Tew said it’s a miracle no one was seriously injured given the amount of damage.

“Well, this was the first time we’ve been to a place where a vehicle was actually inside a building. We’ve been to a lot of places where cars have crashed into houses,” Tew said. .

The homeowner said her daughter was discharged.

Troopers said the driver was charged with reckless driving and an open container.
